A private, family-based cattery.
Abysom Blooming is a professional breeding program driven by love and passion, shaped and guided by expertise, education, ethics, and long-term vision.

Welcome AbySom Blooming Cattery
Located in Toronto, Canada, AbySom Blooming is a TICA, LCWW, and CFA registered, home-based, cage-free cattery specializing in Abyssinian and Somali cats.
Our kittens have found loving homes across Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia.
We Breed the Cats We Would Want to Have Ourselves
We breed Abyssinian and Somali cats with one simple principle at the heart of our program: we breed for you the cats we would want to have ourselves.
Healthy. Beautiful. Vibrant. Active and endlessly curious. And at the same time, exceptionally affectionate, gentle, and deeply connected to their humans.
For us, no single quality is enough on its own. We look for a harmonious combination of health, temperament, personality, and breed type. Our goal is to produce beautiful representatives of their breeds with vibrant colors, well-balanced bodies, and that unmistakable personality that makes it difficult to imagine sharing your life with another breed once you have truly known an Abyssinian or Somali.
Health
Health is the foundation of our breeding program.
Before entering our breeding program, every cat undergoes comprehensive genetic screening using extended DNA panels covering more than 50 genetic conditions. Our breeding cats are clear of the known genetic diseases for which testing is available, as well as carrier status for the conditions excluded by our breeding program.
We also screen our cats for viral infections and carrier status.
But to us, health goes far beyond the DNA results of an individual cat. We study previous generations, the health of our cats' ancestors, and their longevity. This allows us to evaluate our lines from a much broader perspective, considering not only monogenic diseases that can be identified through modern genetic testing, but also health conditions and traits with more complex, polygenic inheritance.
Our goal is not simply to produce a beautiful kitten. Our goal is to raise a cat with the strongest possible foundation for a long and healthy life with its family.
Temperament
Temperament is truly the calling card of Abyssinians and Somalis.
We sometimes joke that they are a dog, a monkey, and a three-year-old child mixed together in one incredible cocktail.
They are cheerful, curious, inventive, and wonderfully active cats. They want to know everything that is happening around them. They want to participate in your life, explore, play, observe, and, of course, be close to you.
Behind all that energy, however, is an incredibly gentle heart filled with love for its human.
Life with one of these cat-children is rarely boring. Playtime, interaction, and cuddles are equally important to them. One moment they are inventing their next adventure, and a few minutes later they are curled up beside you, because their human is at the center of their world.
A Connection With Humans From the Very First Breath
Our kittens are quite literally born into our hands.
We are present at every birth and assist our queens as they bring their babies into the world. Human hands are therefore something our kittens know from their very first breath.
They grow up beside us, surrounded by people, everyday family life, and our dog.
From their earliest days, they learn that humans mean warmth and safety. Humans mean affection, play, conversation, care, and love.
It is very important to us that a kitten leaves for its new home not simply well socialized, but with a natural desire to connect with humans and a deeply established trust in them.
Type and Appearance
In our breeding program, we strive for the modern type of both Abyssinian and Somali cats.
In our Abyssinians, we especially value the features of the modern, more extreme type: a fine, flexible, athletic body, long legs, an elegant long neck and tail, a wedge-shaped face with a distinctive wild expression, and large, widely set ears.
Our Somalis have a recognizable feature that has become something of our signature: the baby face. At the same time, we strive for a strong, well-developed, athletic body, a luxurious tail, and a rich ruff that together create the unmistakable appearance of the Somali cat.
We also pay particular attention to the clarity and richness of color.
In our Abyssinian program, our primary focus is on dilute colors, especially fawn and blue, as well as cinnamon.
In our Somali program, our main focus is ruddy, black silver, and cinnamon.
Genetics, however, always has a way of bringing surprises, so from time to time our litters also include other colors outside the primary focus of each program.
Your Connection With Your Breeder Does Not End When Your Kitten Goes Home
Please remember one important thing: your cat will always remain our kitten.
We remember our graduates. We care about how they grow, how they change, what they love, and who they become as adults.
Once a kitten leaves for its new home, we do not disappear. We are always here to answer your questions, whether they concern health, behavior, nutrition, adjustment, or simply a funny new habit your cat has developed.
And you certainly do not need to contact us only when there is a problem.
We are genuinely happy to receive photographs and updates from our graduates, to hear about the special moments in their lives, and to watch the tiny kitten we once held in our hands during the first moments of its life grow into a beloved member of your family.
Perhaps Your Kitten Is Growing Up With Us
If you love Abyssinians and Somalis, if you are looking for more than simply a beautiful cat, but for a true companion who is lively, cheerful, affectionate, and devoted, and if you want a cat who wants to be part of your life rather than spend twenty-four hours a day sleeping by the window, take a closer look at our kittens.
Perhaps your future family member is already growing up in our cattery.
We would be happy to tell you about these remarkable breeds, introduce you to the parents and ancestors of our kittens, tell you about our lines, and share interesting facts and funny stories.
And if Abyssinians and Somalis are still simply beautiful cats you have admired in photographs, we would be delighted to introduce you to their very special world.

With Love,
